Smoking In Public Places Should Be Banned

 

Cigarette smoking is common all over the world. Most of the people like to smoke when they are relaxing with friends. Smoking produces a feeling of satisfaction that's difficult to give up. However, smoking is one of the worst things kids or adults can do to their bodies. Also, tobacco use can cause cancer and heart disease. Moreover, non-smokers can suffer from health problems if they spend long periods of time among people who do smoke. Although smoking certainly helps many people to relax, I strong believe that smoking in public places should be banned for three reasons.

The first and most important reason to support ban on smoking in public places is that smoking is a very bad habit. It has been proven to be too dangerous for health. Also, smoking causes many different kinds of serious disease, such as lung cancer and heart disease. Even though most people understand the harmful effects of smoking, they continue to smoke. Many people start to smoke when they are teenagers, usually because they have friends who smoke and they want to be like them. My classmate Tuck said, "Children want to seems to their father or neighborhood. Because they believe it looks cool." So, once someone starts to smoke, it can be very difficult to stop because tobacco is a drug, and the inhalation of its smoke produces a pleasant sensation. For instance, when I was young, my favorite uncle died of lung cancer at the age of 45. He has been smoked for 20 years. This proves once and for all that smoking kills. After he finally died, my aunt said, " I am very painful, don't smoke you'll die"

A second reason to support ban on smoking in public places is that second-hand smoke is very harmful to non-smokers. Because non-smokers who breathe in secondhand smoke take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals just like smokers do. And besides, secondhand smoke causes coughing, phlegm, chest discomfort and reduced lung function in nonsmokers. According to the EPA, "3,000 nonsmoking adults die of diseases caused by exposure to second hand smoke every year." I think that second-hand smoke more harmful, particularly to pregnant women. Because when a pregnant woman second-hand smokes, she is hurting her developing baby. Furthermore, breastfeeding mothers who smoke also pass toxins on to their baby in their milk.

The final reason to support ban on smoking in public places is that it will brings enormous positive benefits to the country. Air pollution is environmental damage caused by smoking. According to www.Smoking.Ygoy.com, "Cigarettes contain about 4,000 chemicals, all of which end up released into the air when smoked. Consequently, most people want smoking banned in all public places. Also, it will provide cleaner air for everyone and clean environments, it will provide greater opportunity for smokers to reduce the amount they smoke and maybe even quit. My teacher Lu said, "It's a hard thing to do but I think even a lot of smokers would agree that their health could improve as a result." I agree. I think that smoking ban will bring health benefits to the country. In addition, smoking ban could actually save money on healthcare costs. According to the survey, 100 percent of the students in my class support smoking in public places should be banned.

To summarize, most smokers suffer from heart diseases as well as lung cancers. Besides, second-hand smokers are harmed as much as the smokers themselves although they do not smoke. If the banning of smoking in public places could help reduce lung cancer cases it would be greatly beneficial to a lot of people. Also, not only would smoking being banned in public places benefit many non-smokers but it would benefit those that do smoke. Because smoking bans make it easier for smokers who wish to quit. When smoking is less convenient, smokers who are on the fence about making a quit attempt become more motivated. So, smoking in all public places should be banned
